Holly Nordquist on stage with Dáithí Ó Sé

Meet Holly Nordquist from Phoenix  who represented Arizona at this year’s Rose of Tralee Festival.

As a 21-year-old senior at Grand Canyon University, Holly will graduate in December with honours receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre and Drama.  She also has the qualifications, and all the prerequisites, for a career in Nursing – just as a back up should she need it! Holly got a taste for theatre when aged six she played a butterfly in Sleeping Beauty. Since then she has performed in a variety of roles including musicals, commercials, short films and videos and was recently cast as Viola in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. She won awards in competitive acting, including being the only female in the duo finals at the 2010 Harvard Invitational with the state champion high school Speech and Debate Team. She is also a member of a comedy group.

Holly has travelled extensively including to Rwanda and Burundi where she worked with orphaned children, and was a resident assistant in one of the dormitories on campus where she co-oversaw anywhere from 56 – 108 female college students. She enjoys singing, playing violin, water and snow skiing, hiking, turbo kickboxing, and road races like the Disneyland Half Marathon. Her dream job would be acting in a TV sitcom as she loves to make people laugh.

Holly’s Irish ancestry comes from her great, great grandfather who was born in County Mayo.
